On Saturday, April 10th & Sunday the 11th, St Josef’s Winery in Canby, OR will be celebrating its 27th Annual St Josef’s Festival.  St Josef’s Day celebrates the founding of the winery and the blessing of the vines as spring begins in the vineyard. Playing on the heritage of the founder’s, live Gypsy Jazz music and home-made Hungarian Goulash along with other European style foods will be available.  New releases of special reserve wines will also be sampled for the first time- including the Kitara 2006 Syrah & barrel select Pinot Noir.

Planted in 1978 St Josef’s is one of the winery pioneers in Oregon, founded when there were just 30 wineries in Oregon- now there are over 400.  The St Josef’s Day Fest began as proprietors, Josef & Lilli who emigrated from Europe, wanted to pass on a little bit of the winegrowing spirit to the people of the Pacific Northwest. Since running a vineyard and winery is a lot of hours and hard work, they believe it is important to start the busy season off with a lighthearted approach.  The heritage of fun with Gypsy Jazz Music and hosting friends & neighbors with a small party of good wines, homemade European foods and hospitality remains a hallmark of the winery.

In addition to tastings and winery tours held throughout each day, recording artist Larry Munson and his Trio will be performing from 1 to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday.  Admission is $5 and includes a souvenir glass.  The tasting room will be featuring all of the current varietals and all of the reserve wines as well as the biggest case discounts of the year. St Josef’s Winery has been producing premium varietal wines since 1983 and has won many local and national awards.  It remains proudly family owned and operated.  90 % of the production are Estate Grown – among the wines made are Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Lesprit (Gewürztraminer), Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay and Riesling.

• The 27th Annual St Josef’s Day Festival Hours are 12-6 both Saturday and Sunday April 10 & 11th. Admission is $5 for those over 21, and includes souvenir wine glass, wine tasting and additional case discounts.
